Perhaps you've noticed how all my tutorials here on the blog involve cooking, not crafts.
My wedding photos (3 1/2 years later) still haven't made it into their fancy scrapbook.
I don't own a glue-gun.
I'm not sure if I've ever made a Christmas ornament in my life (shocking, I know...ya'll are going to have to help me out this holiday season).
So now you'll understand what I mean when I say that I did something monumental last week. I made my very first wreath!
The tutorial I found from A Little Brown House walked me through the easy steps. Take a look!
First, I bought the supplies: a Styrofoam wreath, brown ribbon, floral pins (didn't know what they were prior to this experiment!), and brown coffee filters (I bought the 100 count and then had to get some more because I used just over 100). Then I followed the instructions one day during naptime...and see!?
The wreath is now hanging on the inside of our front door...which was formerly extremely white and bare.
What do you think!? I'm quite proud. To see the wreath in better lighting, check out The Little Brown House's cute pictures...
My new adventure was "getting my craft on" (as Ammie would say!)--what's yours? Big or small, link up your recent (or past!) adventures or trial-and-error moments. Are you trying to learn a new skill? Getting creative in the kitchen? Solving problems? Traveling? Link up your blog post, link back to me, and visit the other TNAT participants! If you're not a blogger, feel free to pipe up in the comments section.
As always, you can follow along on twitter using the hashtag #TryNewAdventures.
P.S. Someone commented that Mr. Linky wouldn't let them link up...is anyone else having the same problem? Let me know in the comments...if I can't fix it, I'll at least link up your post for ya.

This is SO cute!! I'm also a non-crafter (mainly because I don't have time or patience for it) but this looks gorgeous AND easy!
ReplyDeleteWow it's so cute, who would have thought those were coffee filters???? Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love it! ...I need something badly for my front door, so this may be the answer! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Erin,

ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic!!! How long was naptime? =p
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Joyce! I think it took me about an hour (?) to make. Not counting the time I took to go back to the store for the second bag of filters (on a different day). :D
ReplyDeleteThat looks terrific! And so smart.
ReplyDeleteThe crafty stuff is not in my field of vision at the moment, but I know it's in me somewhere. Way, way deep down there. :)
Would you like to share it on my "naptime" linky today?

Way to go, Alicia! I've had sort of a craft renaissance in the last few years. Maybe you will too.
ReplyDeleteAre you looking forward to doing some crafts with Squishy? In the meantime, it can be a challenge to keep busy hands out of the supplies. =)
That is the prettiest thing I've seen!!! You are so crafty (even if you don't do it very often) :)
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath!!!! awesome job sis :)
ReplyDeleteWow that is cool, I may have to try that! :)
