| Christina and I...college days! |
The 1st one starts on July 5th and the location is several hours away from our home town. Soooooooo....we're packing up and moving in with friends for the entire month! These sweet friends live in the area and are close enough to us that we're pretty sure we'll still be friends at the end of the month.
Andrew and I became close friends with Mike and Christina in college...and now we're all married with kids (they have 3 fun girls!)...all total there will be 8 of us living together in the same house in the month of July!

I'll be updating you on our adventures along the way...we leave on Saturday to get settled in before the rotation begins.
Have you ever lived "communally" before? How did it go?

What a fun adventure! I did suspect something along the moving lines when you said that you'd update us more on Andrew's rotations.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure things will go really well while you're there. We lived with another family {same family two different times} for several months. There were some crazy moments, but mostly it was really good. God's grace really allows for families to blend together!
My most experience at communal living comes from growing up with 9 siblings ;)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh what an adventure! I've never done this, but I so want to. I think it makes so much sense to live this way. Of course, there will be moments when it's hard, but what a great opportunity to grow in the Lord and counting others as more significant than yourself. Oh, to just do life with our friends and families in this way ... what a blessing! Enjoy :)

ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure! I think it sounds awesome! We haven't lived communally but I really want to. The basement apartment of the house we rent will be open soon and I keep trying to hawk it on people we know. Unfortunately, it's not terribly nice so it's a long shot. Can't wait to hear about this!

ReplyDelete"Oh! Oh! And meeeeeeeeee!!! You'll get to see meeeeeeeeee!!!" **jumping up and down with hand in air!** It will be soooooo much fun and time will fly by! That will be hard work for 12 months of rotations (and a baby!) but sooooo worth it! SO PROUD OF YOU AND ANDREW!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, we've never stayed with anyone for such an extended time! We did host Vu's cousin, husband, 8 week old, and 2 year old for 2 weeks when they had leave from Cuba...it was SUPER FUN!!!!

ReplyDeleteOk now THAT is an adventure! sounds like fun and that's so cool you will get to be with friends and not have to live separately from your husband for a month. I am can't wait to hear about you and your friend's cooking adventures. I can barely cook for myself, let alone a crowd. :)

ReplyDeleteIt helps to have clearly-defined physical space for each family, even if it's only a bedroom, space which the other family Respectfully Stays Out Of. And it may sound like a nice idea to do each other's cleaning or laundry for a sweet surprise, but that's how some of our favorite clothes were shrunk.
We were very fortunate with the family we lived with the longest. Our only problem was that the mom and I would get to talking when I came down to do laundry, and we would come to an hour later, still standing by the washing machines talking our heads off.

Bless both of you ladies! We've lived with other families several times, for 1 week to 3 1/2 months. Oh, and a college student in our basement for a school year. Sometimes it's been good; other times we were so glad when it was over.
It helps to have clearly-defined physical space for each family, even if it's only a bedroom, space which the other family Respectfully Stays Out Of. And it may sound like a nice idea to do each other's cleaning or laundry for a sweet surprise, but that's how some of our favorite clothes were shrunk.
We were very fortunate with the family we lived with the longest. Our only problem was that the mom and I would get to talking when I came down to do laundry, and we would come to an hour later, still standing by the washing machines talking our heads off.
