My Current Top Ten Freezer Cooking Recipes

Since I'm relatively new to freezer cooking, I've had to rely a lot on other people's (mainly Tricia from OAMM) freezer cooking recipes, until I'm able to formulate a large repertoire of "freezer friendly" recipes that I've personally tried and loved.

But I'm well on my way!

Here's my current top ten favorite freezer cooking recipes in no particular order:

1) Lasagna--from OAMM. this is classic, of course. But now, instead of pulling Stouffer's out, I can cook up this version, which is super tasty. I've already tried it out on 20+ people. Try it with spicy sausage!

2) Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Coffee Cake--so I've already sung the praises of this one, but I'm telling you, it's AWESOME. I'm thinking about Christmas gifts!

3) Bean/Sausage Stew (from yours truly). So comforting in the winter time.

4) Chili--the way my mom made it! I'll post the recipe sometime...

5) Banana Buttermilk Pancakes--from Amy at Finer Things! I didn't think pancakes would be good after being frozen, but I was wrong. My husband is a huge fan of these. And they are a great way to use up ripe bananas.

6) Burritos (OAMM). Top these with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guac and it's oh-so-good. I made 2 1/2 big pans of this for our church lunch this past Sunday and got lots of compliments.

7) Sue Sue's Casserole--you were wondering when a true casserole would show up, weren't you? This one has ground beef, egg noodles, peas, corn, and cheese in it. I altered the original recipe by leaving out the mushrooms.

8) Chicken Spagetti (Pioneer Woman). Yum. I love how it has pimientos in it.

9) Beef fahitas (OAMM). This recipe is on the April 2009 OAMM menu (click on the printable menu to see it). I left out the tequila and they still tasted super yummy. The key is not to overcook your sirloin.

10) Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins from Money Saving Mom. These are fun and they are great for a quick snack. Try cutting the oil down some--I have and they still taste moist and yummy.

What's your favorite freezer cooking recipe?

  1. HUGE fan of freezer cooking! As soon as I saw your title I couldn't wait to see your favorite recipes! They all look so good! I've made a lot of those but the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are probably my favorite on your list. I just made the black bean burgers on the OAMM April list and they are awesome!

  5. Right now my fave is anything pancakes. I made banana today, we do blueberry most often and recently I started making cinnamon!

My other fave is this super simple one from Stolen Moments: http://stolenmomentscooking.com/mexican-chicken-black-bean-filling/

(actually, she has a whole top ten freezer cooking post, too: http://stolenmomentscooking.com/top-10-freezer-cooking-recipes/ )

  6. LOVE your list. We are huge on pancakes around here too. I will have to try Amy's recipe. I kind of gave up on freezing them b/c they never tasted the same. I will give these a try!

Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are one of my faves too! Sometimes I make the super quick ones: 1 box spice cake mix, 1 can pumpkin, 1/2 cup of water. Add chocolate chips to taste (or any other add-ins). YUM!

  7. Great list! I am going to try some of these. I love having meals to pull out of the freezer when I am just not in the mood to chop, rinse, mince, and all that jazz. Thanks!
