It's been a sweet week. Here are 5 happy things about it:
I am now the proud owner of my very first laptop. :D Andrew has to take his laptop to school daily, leaving us without a home laptop, so I used my saved-up allowance to purchase this computer. The last time I personally had a new computer was when I graduated from high school!
Remember how I told you that prior to our move I had prayed for sunshine but gotten shade instead? Well, this past week a large storm blew through and split one of the huge trees in our "backyard" nearly in half. Then the maintenance men came and chopped the rest of the tree down. So now? There is lots more sunshine in the backyard that now comes through our windows! Sunshine and a pretty view. I feel so loved.
Squishy is at such a fun stage. 7 months old yesterday, he's up on all fours rocking, threatening to crawl. He's over the rough patch of cutting his second tooth, and he sees everything in his world as something to explore....and gnaw on. Here he is with Andrew watching a World Cup game.
Moving to a new town has the wonderful effect of forcing you to trust God more. It's been really good for me. I miss the huge group of sweet, amazing people that we moved away from (I'm thankful for telephones), but the absence of an instant support group is sending me to God.
My last note is that Jesus is radiant and full of glory. I love Him. I have been reading Revelation, where it talks about His firey eyes and describes His voice like "the sound of many waters." It makes my heart say, "Come, Lord Jesus."

Those ARE 5 happy things! I love the tree story! Isn't it just overwhelming how HE loves us! That tree was split just for you!

Congrats on the new laptop - love the pretty background picture.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how God answers our prayers in ways we would never think of-a storm splitting a tree giving you the sunshine you crave, for instance! I'm sure He has an incredible plan for building your support group in your new town.
Squishy is adorable! Small children and puppies both go through that gnawing stage...nothing is safe for a while.
Loved your "happy things!" And, yea for the laptop, they are the greatest! I love sunshine too and always look forward to raising my shades and opening my drapes each morning to see it. Glad you have some now! So glad you are adjusting to the move and pray the Lord continues to bring just the right folks into your life and many blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new laptop! How exciting! What a blessing to find so much to be happy about...love the tree story! We are getting more sunshine than I care for around here...but a quick jump in the bathtub warm pool makes up for it...so I can't complain!
ReplyDeleteThe tree story is pretty amazing. Just when we think that God has completely given us the opposite of what we wanted, He completely takes our breath away with His faithfulness and the way that He knows us.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness... squishy is ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteOOO...a first laptop! How fun! Our first laptop, sad to say, belonged to one of our children! I am hopeful though that one day I will get her hand me down :0)! Pretty views and sunshine make for a great day! Hope you enjoy the rest of yours! I did happen upon your blog and happy family via Home Sanctuary and the Company Girls! Have a happy...
ReplyDeletea laptop of my own is on the list of things I want
ReplyDeleteHow good to get your own laptop.....and I do agree w/you abt the Lord coming! Thanks for stopping by my blog...have a good wknd!
ReplyDeleteooops..sorry...you didn't stop by but it would be lovely if you could!

My husband keeps trying to get me to get a new one since mine is now 5 years old and is unbelievably slow and too full to store anything. We still have the desktop from his college days and it works fine, so I don't feel the need. He got a new laptop when he started grad school and it leaves mine in the dust, but I'd rather spend the money elsewhere right now.
ReplyDeleteYour son is impossibly cute! Thanks for sharing your happy things with us!
