Try New Adventures Thursday: A Gelato Outing

I reeeeeaaally stretched myself and went out of my comfort zone this week, ya'll.

My hubby and I packed Squishy into the car and set out on a mission to test out our local Gelato shop. It's a tough job, but we were equal to the task.

To my knowledge, the last town we lived in did not have a Gelato place, so I am ecstatic about this.

Needless to say, it was fabulous. My hubby ordered Mango Pineapple gelato, but I went straight for the French Vanilla Cappuccino. Ahhhhhhhhh....divine. And I love the tiny gelato spoons!

Squishy just enjoyed the sights and sounds, since he's a bit young yet for gelato (poor thing).

I'm compiling a list in my head of "Things to do when we have out of town company" and a visit to this gelato shop just landed itself right on top of the list. What's your favorite gelato flavor?

Some interesting things to note about gelato:
1) Gelato is basically Italy's version of ice cream.
2) Supposedly, it has LESS fat than typical American ice cream
3) And yet, because of the way it is made, it has more FLAVOR. That's why you use the little spoons! Savor each taste-bud dancing bite.

A tired Squish ready for the ride home

  3. Good for you! Mango pineapple sorbet sounds wonderful.

I'm not sure I've ever tried gelato. I don't think our town has a shop like this, but maybe I'd better make sure...=)

  4. Our pastor and his family rave about gelato, but I've never had it. Guess we might just have to find a Gelato Shop sometime! I agree with Ammie ;)

  8. Christine--bummer! Sorry! I aim for moderation with sweets. Lately, I have not kept any sweets in the house, so getting out to have gelato was a nice treat. Also, I have been "shredding," so I don't feel any guilt! :D

You wouldn't be able to tell that I'm going for moderation this week, would you? I've posted about a chocolate cake recipe and a gelato trip! LOL.

  11. I love gelato! We have a little place in the mall I go to once or twice a year. And the place we celebrated our anniversary had a case of it. Chocolate chip mint was calling my name. (Of course they had a fancy name for it.) Thanks for the great picture and post.
