Try New Adventures Thursday: Eating by Candlelight

TNAT Candlelight

Our family's latest new adventure? Eating dinner by candlelight for an entire week! Prior to this week, we had eaten only 1-2 (at most) meals by candlelight at home...and that was before Squishy came onto the scene.

This week's experiment received an overall thumbs up (although hubby said we need to light a few more candles, because he couldn't always see what he was eating!). Dining by candlelight was a lovely and simple way to change the pace of our evening meal. We slowed down, savored the moments, lingered after eating...instead of moving quickly to cleaning-up tasks or bedtime routines.

Now that our week is up, we're going to shoot for eating by candlelight once a week. Just 'cause we can. :)

dinner time fun

As for Squishy, his table manners don't necessarily match the ambiance of eating by candlelight! But somehow we don't mind.

  2. Squishy is too cute! Even covered in sauce. :) I love this idea. It's romantic, even with the kids. We will have to give it a try!
