On The Sick Days

IMG_6400 copy

Squishy and I are not quite ourselves today. Colds seem to be making an appearance for both of us. And then there's the nausea and tiredness that was already present (thank you all for your nausea fighting recommendations on facebook!).

It's days like this that I'm especially grateful for the following:

The huge privilege of staying home and spending some time with Squishy in the rocking chair...

That Squishy actually likes taking his medicine...

That I'm not waking up at 5:30 to get ready for a 12 hour shift at the hospital...

Good friends who call (text) to check in on you...

Warm showers...

God's grace to get me through the next 10 minutes...(thanks for reminding me, Christina!)

A sweet husband (who made breakfast for dinner last night!)...

Saltines! Bless the dear soul that first created them...

What are you thankful for on the harder days? To all the working moms who have to be at work in spite of sickness sometimes--you are amazing!

  1. I spent those very recent days fairly grumpy - but thankful for the *reason* and *fruit* of all the trials. Moreover, for my incredibly amazingly awesome and Christlike husband! (And super-duper sweet and adaptable kiddos.)

  2. On these days I love my DVD collection for the kids. To keep them busy and get some much needed sleep myself. I know it's not the best parenting tool, but on these days... (I felt so sorry for myself when I had to take my son from and to school when I had pneumonia :-( )
Love and get well soon, Amelie

  3. Hang in there! We are in the midst of boogers and coughs over here.

For my nausea, I drank ginger ale, and am now still drinking it just because. =p If gestational diabetes is not a concern, give it a try.

  4. Grace upon grace. Usually 'harder' days in our house mean fussiness(baby) and lack of patience (me, okay I also get fussy) which requires more grace than I thought possible. Mate lattes and warm vanilla almond milk with cinnamon also help.

    Hope the colds mend quickly.
