Goodbye PA School {Try New Adventures Thursday!}

This post almost didn't happen because I stayed up late watching a movie with my hubby.

Wait. Let's read that sentence again. I stayed up late watching a movie with my hubby! On a Wednesday night! He wasn't studying, he wasn't doing an overnight rotation, he wasn't out of town helping deliver someone's baby, he wasn't working on a presentation.

Because....he's done with Physician Assistant school!!!!!

Graduation day

And I am so. incredibly. proud. of him. And thankful for the grace of God in bringing us through the process with a whole marriage, taking care of us financially, blessing us with a second sweet son, and placing us in the middle of a huge, supportive group of friends in our new town.

The whole family is graduating, really...;)

And really...you might think I'm being dramatic about the movie watching, but I can count on less than 10 fingers the number of times we've done that together in the last 2 years!

Suddenly, it feels like we can breath. Certain things we truly love doing as a couple (reading books out loud together, having people in our home often, going on outdoor adventures, cooking together) have been put mostly on hold for the last two years. Now Andrew's pulling books off the shelf and sharing new ideas and I'm looking at him like "who-are-you-and-what-did-you-do-with-my-tired-husband-who-needs-to-study?" Did I mention that Andrew's parents are sending us on a cruise at the end of July? Someone pick me up off the floor.

Lots of people have told us that the 1st 1-2 years after PA school aren't a cakewalk, because the learning curve on the job is so steep. So I'm preparing for that in my heart. We don't know what our "new normal" is yet. But I'm excited for this next season in life!

I'm intensely thankful for my sweet husband. For his laid back personality during the rigors of a grueling master's degree program. For all the time he sacrificed study time to focus on our family. For his desire to glorify the God who has given us every breath and brain cell. I love my Andrew!

  6. Way go to Andrew, and Alicia because I know it took a team to get through school! I'm so glad to hear you're getting to indulge in downtime with your honey! Your attitude over the past year has truly inspired me as I know you've often gone at it alone and are happy to do so. Thank you for sharing your adventures and your heart!
