Monday @ the Supermarket--A Little Late

Yes, I did go shopping yesterday. With around $94 spent on my freezer cooking day, I have $106 left in the budget to work with for the rest of the month. Most of this will go towards fresh produce--fruit, veggies, milk, eggs. Our meat is mostly taken care of for the month. With any wiggle room I have each week, I will buy things on sale that I need to stock up on and hopefully some groceries for the next freezer day. :)

Here are all my purchases pictured together. I spent $26.53. And I might not need to buy any more eggs this month. :)

The breakdown:

WalMart--Spent $17.67 (bought the majority of the food there).
Publix--Spent $5.81, saved $6.86 (I also got a raincheck for the BIGI yogurt).
Winn-Dixie--Spent $3.19, saved $7.97.

As you can see, I bought lots of dried beans...I'll be cooking up two big pots later this week.

It's Monday, sooooo...

You guessed it. I've been grocery shopping. I tackled 3 stores with Little W. in tow! I was pretty proud of myself. Funny thing though...is it just here in North Florida or do all the elderly shop on Monday mornings? I couldn't get two feet in Publix without being stopped by some sweet grandmother who wanted to see the baby. They were so kind. But we caused several traffic jams. :O

I also did a little shopping yesterday, so there are two pictures for Publix (I found the "One Stop, One Store booklets...yay!!).

Publix
Total spent: $21.42
Total saved: $44.87

Winn-Dixie

(don't know why the picture is sideways...can't seem to fix it)

Total spent: $12.44
Total saved: $14.89

Wal-Mart
(the place where I buy everything that's not on sale/doesn't have a coupon)
Total spent: $9.88
Total saved: Probably around $3.00

Grand total spent: $43.74
Grand total saved: $62.76

And my grocery envelope for March is empty! We spent $215 ($15 was SC Johnson rebates that came in the mail this month) for the month.

Monday @ the Supermarket

Finished with the weekly shopping. Made a quick run into Winn-Dixie for cheese (we are having pizza tonight and I didn't have enough mozzerella.

Winn-Dixie
Spent: $2.99
Saved:$2.99

Publix
Spent: $42
Saved: $53.35

Grand total spent: $44.99
Grand total saved: $56.29

I also made a run to Wal-Mart at the end of last week for more on-sale flour, some butter, eggs, and pepperoni. So, I have $39 left in the grocery envelope for the rest of the month! Should be do-able.

I would like to get back to saving 60-80% on our groceries, but since we are consistently staying within budget each month AND I'm experimenting with freezer cooking, I'm not too worried about it right now. :)

Monday @ the Supermarket

Grocery shopping day! Today I hit Publix and Wal-Mart. I had an awesome $10/50 purchase Winn-Dixie coupon that I used at Publix, so that was really nice, especially since I needed a lot of things I did not have coupons for. I also bought some luxury items, like 1/2&1/2 and Earl Grey tea. :) I stocked up on chicken for $.59/lb to get ready for next month's freezer cooking day.

Publix
Spent: $32.98
Saved: $53.48

Then I went to Wal-Mart to buy items I did not have any coupons for. Raisins, butter, some produce. I was happily surprised to find they had flour for $1.50!!! Would have loved to use my .75/1 coupon, but my Wal-Mart does not accept internet coupons. :( However, the checkout lady saw my Dave Ramsey cash envelope system and asked me all about it. Fun. :)

Wal-Mart
Spent: $16.21
Saved: ~$4.00

Grand total spent: $49.19 (just under our $50/week budget!)
Grand total saved: $57.48

Monday @ the Supermarket

Monday again, and time for my weekly grocery trip. I was pretty proud of my purchases today! My grocery budget will be slightly off this month, since I'm doing my first FULL day of freezer cooking and buying the bulk of March's food ahead of time. I will still need to make one more trip to the store before March 1st, to get fresh meat and produce.

6 lbs of pork loin and over 2 lbs of tomatoes
Harvey's
Spent: $14.44
Saved: $12.30

(baby not included)

Publix
Spent: $36.62
Saved: $66.99

A good week at Publix! The 1/24 RP has a $4 coupon for any Knox product, so I bought 2 Knox gelatins at $1.39 each and made over $5 overage on those! Sweet! Not to mention the awesome Viva Italia sale...:) I did have to buy several items without coupons in preparation for our freezer day, such as cherry pie filling and tuna.

Grand total spent: $51.06
Grand total saved: $79.29

Publix and Winn-Dixie 2/8

I got a head start this week and did my shopping on a Monday! Whew. It was a challenge with little W. in tow...I went into Publix, then into Winn-Dixie, but he got hungry, so I went back to the car and fed him and then went back into Winn-Dixie to finish shopping! Considering we live 30 minutes away from the grocery stores, it made for quite a trip. I am in awe of mothers with multiple children who take them shopping AND do couponing!

Here are my totals. I did better this week! It was quite a change to most of my shopping at Winn-Dixie, because they had better deals this week on the things I needed.

But first, Publix:
Spent: $15.48
Saved: $25.37

Winn-Dixie:
Spent: $22.80
Saved: $40.40
The best deal was the two pounds of italian sausage that I got for free! They were B1G1, and I had a B1G1 coupon. Fabulous. Free meat.

That brings my grand total to:
Spent: $38.28 (just within budget, since I only had $40 to spend)
Saved:$65.77

This week's shopping trip

The groceries above were purchased at Publix, Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie, and Walgreens.

Grand Total Spent: $51.82
Grand Total Saved: $49.53

The best deal was Walgreens, where I bought 2 cartons of eggs and 1 bottle of baby wash for 26 cents (used $3 RR).

I have just been saving around %50 lately, which is not my usual 66% or above. There have been a lack of "$ off of $ purchase" coupons here recently. At least, that's what I'm blaming it on! :)

Publix 1/26

Today's shopping trip results (you can click on the picture to enlarge):
Publix: Spent $47.03, saved $49.48
CVS: Spent $2.29, saved $1.50 (this was for a gallon of milk)

I've had better weeks, but I needed a lot of produce this week, and I haven't figured out a consistently good way to get produce cheap. I do not have time to run around to every store in Tallahassee to get the best prices on produce. Still working on this...

Publix deals!

Just made our weekly shopping trip, and I think I did quite well at Publix! I also stopped by Wal-Mart for sweet potatoes (6), onions (3), bananas, green bell peppers (4), tomatoes (2) Gold Medal Flour (2 @ 1.50 ea after coupons), and craisins. My total purchases are pictured above (hard to see everything!).

Total spent: $53.04
Publix: Spent $34.44, saved 68.95
Walmart: Spent $18.60, mostly on produce

Now I have to run, because we are having company for dinner. On the menu is Mexican Chili Chicken, Memaw's Green Beans, and biscuits, with cookies and ice cream for dessert. :)

Andrew and I had our monthly budget meeting last night, so I'll post an update on that soon.

Love, Alicia
