Cozy Family Traditions

(image copywright of Llore Photography)

We're starting off on a good foot here, because
if something is cozy, I'm almost guaranteed to like it (as a little girl, I fell in love with all things old-fashioned somewhere between Laura Ingalls Wilder and Louisa May Alcott).

My husband and I talk about family traditions periodically. We're a young family (married three years in May), and so these are shaping years for us. We hope to establish some traditions as a family that will bring us together and form some wonderful memories. One thing we have often talked about is reading together as a family in the evenings.

Right now, our little routine (on a "normal" night) is to put little one to bed and then put a kettle of water on the stove to boil. We make two cups of herbal tea and then we crawl into bed, sip our tea, and delve into the books each of us is reading.

It's lovely.

Before long, I'm sure little W. will join in our tradition, only we'll probably move it to the living room and he'll probably be drinking milk. ;)

Love, Alicia

  1. Sounds like perfection to me! My oldest is now joining me for reading Laura Ingalls Wilder a couple of times on the couch. I know she's falling in love too! (She's reading Junie B. Jones to her brother as I type!)

  2. Awwww, I'm feeling all sentimental now. I would love to have a tradition like that, but I don't think my husband would read so much. How special!
Thanks for linking up to Finer Things Friday! :) Katie
