I've been trying to stay on top of the laundry around here lately. Laundry is not my favorite thing. But clean clothes are good, so I'm trying to get my act together.
Last night, I realized
So, I did what Captain Obvious would do and wrote myself a note. Well, actually, I typed it in really big letters. Like so:
And so far...it's working! I'm on load #3 of laundry today, and I have my note posted in the kitchen so that I'll be reminded frequently.
How do you stay on top of the laundry? A load a day? A laundry day once a week? Enough clothes so you only have to do laundry once a year? I'd love to hear...

LOL, your not the only one:{
ReplyDeleteI just traded my fifth load of the day into the dryer, but my normal goal is to do one load a day. The washing/drying isn't usually the problem; it's getting everything folded and put away!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's my OTHER problem...
ReplyDeletewatch the weather pick a nice sunny day wash up all clothes the night before make sure to add fabric softner and I get up early and hang them out on the clothes line to dry. Clothes lines are wonderful and safe money!
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous: I actually wouldn't mind trying that method, except I never buy fabric softener. When we move, I'm going to see if they'll allow me to put up a clothes line. :)
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing that buzzing coming from the dryer.. Ugh! I sometimes just want to ignore it. LOL! We usually do a load a day with designated days for different people and types of clothes. :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great Wednesday!

I do forget sometimes--but more often I leave the clothes in the dryer, not the washer. Our laundry room is adjacent to the kitchen, so I guess I hear the washer spinning. (When the dryer is running, I close the door to that room, so I don't always hear the buzzer.)
ReplyDeleteGenerally, I try to wash one load of laundry a day. But if it's a quiet stay-at-home day, I might do extra so I can skip a day or two.
Fortunately, I can remember to switch the laundry (most of the time), but the "Put a big sign up to remind yourself of something" works really well for other things too!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy doing the laundry but there is nothing worse than opening up the machine to a stinky mess. Icckk! It seems like I do laundry everyday, but I try to get it all done on Sundays so we all have clothes for the week.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I have that same problem!! Good idea! (came over from idreamofclean btw).
ReplyDeleteGood idea. Here's what I do sometimes- I put a load in the washer at night. In the morning before my husband goes to work I put it in the dryer and during the day I fold (I put on my favorite DVD and go for it). (Came over from IdreamofClean)
ReplyDeleteI have a routine of what I do a day and after I have what I had to do done it is great
ReplyDeleteIf you sell those signs I'll buy one :-) Soooo glad I'm not the only one who forgets the wet clothes!
ReplyDeleteI love notes to myself, so I like your idea! I try to load or switch or fold around meal-time (after b-fast, after lunch, after dinner)...we have LOTS of laundry around here :)
ReplyDeleteLove this tip. It is simple but effective. I have done that myself, and it is always so frustrating to have to rewash the load.
ReplyDeleteAfter several times of Daniel getting dressed in the morning for work and coming out to the kitchen to ask "um... do I have any clean ____ ?" I sat down and wrote out a laundry schedule. I do 1-2 loads a day, and none on Saturday or Sunday (unless I get off schedule or I need something washed specifically). As for fabric softener... I don't buy it either, but last winter I got 4 bottles for FREE w/ coupons, and I use it every now and then. I like it!! But I'm used to the laundry w/out it, so I don't mind not using it. There are recipes for homemade if you want to use it but not buy it.
ReplyDeleteI've done that too, yuck! Now I set the timer on the microwave (because it doesn't go off until you shut it off!!) and yes, I've stood there, wondering what the timer was for, only to go "oh, yeah! clothes" lol I do several loads on Mon and Thurs. I do towels on Tues and sheets on Fridays. With 6 people in the house, it never seems to end!
