I Heart Frog and Toad {Giveaway}

Frog and Toad TogetherFrog and Toad...
Do you know them?
We had friends stay with us this week and they have small children. They said goodbye this morning, and as I was picking up toys later on, I picked up the copy of Frog and Toad Together that was lying on the floor.

Let me introduce you.

Frog and Toad are friends, and they do everything together. Frog is the more sensible of the two. He helps Toad get along. And Toad does all sorts of wonderful things like wear a funny looking bathing suit (in which he is self-conscious), bake cookies (he wants to eat ALL of them), wait for the mail, and sing to his seeds to encourage them sprout.

I think there’s a little Toad in all of us.

But where would Toad be without his steady friend, Frog? Together, they go on adventures (even if it’s just to feel brave).

One of my favorite Frog and Toad stories is the one in which Toad decides to make a list of all the things he needs to do in the day (sound familiar, moms? I’m a list kind of gal…). Only, the things on Toad’s list are things like: “Wake up, eat breakfast, get dressed, take a nap, visit frog, play games with frog, eat dinner, go to bed.” I need a day like that…don’t you?

Only, Toad loses his list, which causes great distress.

But in the end, of course, he and Frog figure out a happy ending (I’ll let you read the story!).

And since I love Frog and Toad (and YOU), I am giving away a copy of “Frog and Toad Together” to one of my readers! This is great if you have kids, and great if you don’t. Everyone needs a little Frog and Toad in their lives.

To enter, leave a comment telling us what one of your most-loved childhood books was (and please, pretty please, include your email address so I can get in touch with you if you win!). The winner will be chosen next Thursday (you have until midnight eastern time on Wednesday to enter).

You can get an additional entry by following Alicia's Homemaking either by subscribing via RSS or email or following on twitter! Just leave a comment saying you've done so (or telling me that you already follow in one of these ways).

~Alicia

P.S. There are other wonderful Frog and Toad books, like Frog and Toad Are Friends, Frog and Toad All Year, Days with Frog and Toad,  and Adventures of Frog and Toad.

  3. I'm not entering the giveaway, but just want to say how much I love Frog and Toad. I love the story where Toad keeps a list of things to do and does not know what to do after it blows away. Another childhood favorite -- the Fox books (by James Marshall).

  16. Not a typical book but when I was 10 I read Alex the Life of a Child about a little girl with cystic fibrosis. I could relate to her many visits to the hospital and really liked the book.
