Eighteen hours of labor and two hours of pushing...
Thousands upon thousands of kisses...
Cuddly moments and sleepless nights....
And did I mention lots of kisses?
We're having so much fun.

P.S. I am looking for good books on parenting to read...what are your recommendations?

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite parenting books is "A Gift from God: Foundational Principles of Biblical Parenting" by Larry Mercer. Our Pastor gave every family in our church a copy of this a few years ago....great stuff!
Have a wonderful weekend, Alicia!
Blessings,
Katie
What amazing pictures (I especially love the third)! Our labor numbers are identical, btw. Totally worth it though! I hope the next six months are just as fun for you guys!
ReplyDeleteoh my. Adorable!
ReplyDeletePrecious photos!
ReplyDeleteYour baby is precious! Time goes by too fast, doesn't it? I smiled when I read your post this morning because I recently told my husband that I was going to throw out all my parenting books (I own A LOT) because now that my 2 older children have hit adulthood (so they think-18 & 19)I'm scratching my head in frustration over the efforts I've put into parenting. Long story short, books are good, but prayer is the best investment :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Your baby is so so cute. I'm getting married this summer and can't wait to start my family. Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful gift from God you have - I am glad you are having so much fun! Parenting should be a joy - despite the ever present adjustments! I always find that just as we leave one stage and enter a new one that I've been looking forward to, we really are just exchanging one set of challenges for another! Children really keep you on your toes!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michelle - time in the Word of God and on my knees in prayer are my most valuable parenting tools - and I also love 'For Instruction in Righteousness' for when my heart or the children's hearts are in need of a 'tune up' and I can't find the passage! It's a handy look up tool - every heart issue is addressed from a Biblical standpoint in a brief but complete way.
@ Michelle and Heather: Thanks! My dad has told me before that you can do everything right as a parent and still your kids will fall on their faces. You have to be praying for God's grace in your kid's lives.
ReplyDelete@Katie: I will have to check that book out!
Precious!! Oh there are so many great resources out there. I've taken bits and pieces from many of them. I completely agree with the two ladies above. Realizing God loves them more than we do and ultimately is the one protecting them is priceless. We definitely have a job to do and we will fail on many levels but God's grace is more than sufficient. Pray Pray Pray...He will guide you!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I haven't read too many parenting books, so I'll have to get back to you on that.
ReplyDeleteHappy 6 months!! Too too precious!
I've probably told you about this one, but I think I got some good points out of The Christian Family, by Larry Christianson. Got that one from your parents. I also picked up some good things here and there from the Babywise II book. I have heard that it helps to read a book on parenting from time to time to stay encouraged when it gets busy (also from your mom). :) Love you!
