Wrapping Up The Week

One week of Andrew's second semester down! We're getting settled back into a routine, although we had to conduct "Mission Un-Spoil" with Squishy this week (after a week with grandparents, he thought he could be picked up at every turn). It is also amazing how quickly children grow/learn at this age--I found myself having to seriously up my awareness/baby-proofing, especially after I found Squishy here ----->
What you can't tell from the picture is that he was rocking the entire bookshelf back and forth.

It was rewarding to be getting up early again, and I also got off to a good start with a workout routine (my goal is to do some sort of 20-30 minute work-out 3-4 days a week). However, I am trying to keep Kat's advice in mind and not start the semester off with such a bang that I'm burnt out in a few weeks.

Getting back to the small things was also nice! Here's how the week went:

Monday: The task was to get on with your minimum maintenance. Who-hoo! But am I the only one who finds that with a small child underfoot it's impossible to do all the rooms in your house consecutively? My minimum maintenance gets spread out throughout the whole day sometimes...:)
Tuesday: Get rid of a stack in your house. I dissolved two stacks--one of books (all of which I'm supposedly "currently reading"...ha!) and one of clothes. Hurrah!
Wednesday: The small thing was to find some "rings" in your house and clean them. I cleaned the coffee pot (yes, it had rings...shame, shame) and mopped the floor (which was spattered with baby-food rings!).
Thursday: Clean your window sills! I cleaned all but one of mine and found quite a few hidden cobwebs.
Today: A day off. :)

My mother's words have helped me keep perspective and be relaxed in heart this week. My friend Christina reminded me of the quote my mother has hanging in one of her bathrooms: "A clean house never lasts. Hugs and kisses do." How refreshing.

I'm linked up today to Company Girl Coffee. :)

  1. One thing I love about having my husband in school is that every new semester feels like a new start to me. It's like getting to make New Years Resolutions two (or three, counting summer) times a year.

  2. Adventures in baby-proofing; no matter that you think you've thought of everything, they WILL find something else to do that will scare the daylights out of you!

  3. It's crazy how fast they are learning at this age. I think about Squishy age, I went to toast some bread and when I came back, E got into the wagon by herself. And just last month, I left the room to turn off a light in the next room (so seriously a few seconds) and she got onto M's bed (it's boxspring and mattress on the floor).

Great job on the Small Things! I still have yet to get on looking at Kat's stuff. Grrr....

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. "A clean house never lasts. Hugs and kisses do." -- I need this framed and hung on a wall. It is easy for me to get caught up in how messy things are instead of just pushing it aside sometimes and focusing on the people in the house that are making the mess!

  6. Squishy does look proud of his accomplishment. :) Don't see much remorse in that face.....ha.

Wow, GREAT job on the Small Things! I did not get to my own window sills - that's on my list for tomorrow's chores. I spotted some cobwebs....yech.

  7. Isn't interesting how we have to "detox" our children after the grandparents have had their hands on them? What happens to our parents anyway?? :)

    Have a great week!
