I Neglected To Mention...

I've been MIA this week because my little sister got married this past weekend.

She had a vintage-style wedding in my parent's backyard.

A taste of the last week:

The events kicked off on Thursday evening when we had my sister's bridal/lingerie shower. It was a fun, girly time spent catching up with old friends. I made the Pioneer Woman's red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and while it tasted great, it looked disastrous (made for a good laugh!). Turns out that it's ok to butter and flour a pan, but not to oil and flour a pan. Good to know.

I also got to play with two of my god-daughters (they are 3 1/2 months old and completely delightful).

The wedding day was busy, but wonderful.

The dress
The bride (Lindsey), just after her dress was properly buttoned. :)

Isn't she lovely...?
Just after putting on her veil. Isn't she beautiful?
My sweet sister Lindsey...I remember when we were little, she was shy. Approaching the librarian to ask questions petrified her. Today, while she still dislikes being the center of attention, she has blossomed in confidence and in humility (a precious paring). I love her so much!

Dancing
My brother pulled our grandmother out onto the dance floor by surprise...look at her face!
Post-wedding, we have all been catching up on sleep (Mental note: Having a wedding in your home is work! Worth it, but work.). It's spring break for my hubby this week (yee-haw!), so we're taking this opportunity to leave Squishy with his grandparents and get away for the night!

I'm not sure if our B&B is going to have Wi-Fi, so Try New Adventures Thursday will take a break this week.

What is your favorite part of a wedding? I am always grateful for the reminder (usually during the ceremony) that love lives to fulfill the other person.

P.S. While you're here, don't forget to enter to win a copy of Not Your Mother's Casseroles!
