Small Everyday Adventures {Try New Adventures Thursday!}

"Life is a never-ending continuum of opportunity for wonder and fun."

mulberry picking

New adventures I've had this week:
  • Cramming a family of 5 into our small apartment for an overnight stay (that's 8 people in our little place!). Three of the kids slept in the same room and did quite well, I must say.
  • Shooting my first event as the "photographer"--a casual event, but good practice and fun.
  • Actually progressed in reading The Wind In The Willows past the 1st chapter! Why have I put it off so long? Crazy of me...it's delightful!
  • Purchased my 1st Julia Child cookbook...:)
  • Experimented with a new chocolate chip cookie recipe (3 such cookies, fresh out of the oven, have been consumed during the writing of this post).
  • Took my neighbor mulberry picking. She got super excited and told me that the silkworms used to make Chinese silk eat the leaves of the mulberry tree, so mulberry trees are common in China! Who knew?
  • Gave Squishy an Alfalfa hair-do.

How about you?!?

  1. I will have to try that chocolate chip cookie recipe! We prefer them made "the way" my mom always made them, which is different than anyone else's choc. chip cookie recipe I've ever seen. This week I tried making w/ all butter and we don't like the texture of the finished product nearly as much. Maybe melting the butter will be the trick to getting the texture I want while using all butter :) (Mom uses 1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. shortening.)

BTW, I love all your adventures this week :)

  2. Hmmm... chocolate chip cookies. That sounds yummy even at 7:45 in the morning. ;)

What was your photography job? Sounds like a lot of fun. Are weddings next??

  3. Wow what an adventurous week. Very brave of you to have 3 kids sleeping in one room, glad it worked out! Event photography? How exciting! Are we going to see the work?

Miriam-that's the way my mom makes cookies too! If the all buter works out maybe you can share it on TNAT!

  5. @Katie, what is TNAT? Never heard of it... That's neat that your mom makes them that way, too! I have never come across anyone else that does.

  6. @Miriam - TNAT is the acronym for Try New Adventures Thursday. Kinda sounds like an action word to me. TNAT! Ka-boom! :) :)

  8. @Sarah - LOL! Now I feel foolish having even asked! I don't know why that didn't click in my head before, ESPECIALLY on a Try New Adventures Thursday POST!
