God's Girl

Leftover wedding memories (March 7)

On this Friday, I can't think of a finer thing than belonging to Jesus.

Sometimes lately I have felt a disconnect...when I have tried to be connected with God I have met with....silence. I know that my relationship with Him is not based on feeling, so I have pressed through, trusting He's there when I don't "sense" Him, remembering that it's not my actions that cause Him to love me.

But I have noticed that I can get so sidetracked by my own agendas and ideas--my mind likes to run in a million directions. In between chores, errands, diapers, cooking...my heart does not always run back to Him.

So I'm trying to pause, to quiet myself, and keep in touch with Him more. To listen more. To train my soul to sit at the feet of a God who is loving, even though sitting there means confrontation and change. But I need that!

He is there to meet me. I'm remembering to sing more. And I am so thankful for who He is and all that He has given me.

  1. So true!! It's hard to daily take time for God when there are so many other daily "to-dos" that are in your face so much more than God. But I'm giving you some encouragement that it is always worth it!!

  2. You are so right to not pay attention to the feeling and keep at it. He is right there waiting for you =)

  3. I especially appreciate your thoughts today! My husband gave me an art piece that says 'make time for the quiet moments for God whispers and the world is loud' - I often think that it is in times when I am set aside by my illness that I am best able to hear the still small voice of God through meditating on His living Word!

  4. I know what you mean. Among the hustle and bustle of life, we forget to worship the Creator of life. Thanks for sharing that.

  6. Silence is golden. In our fast-paced, high-tech world I think we can forget that sometimes. He is in the silence. :)

  7. You are absolutely right. It is so freeing to know that He is there even if we don't feel him. I have been through those seasons and the great thing is, if you keep reading the Bible and keep praying, when you come out on the other side, you know Him so much better!
