My husband and I are a little late in officially celebrating our anniversary, but yesterday we dropped Squishy off with his grandparents (they were happy about that!) and took off for our first night away since he was born 6 1/2 months ago. We found a lovely B&B in a beautiful spot of "old Florida"--St. Marks.
10 happy pieces of our trip:
1) Did I mention we left the baby behind? We love him and gushingly talk about him when he's present and when he's not, but it's wonderful to spend time just the two of us. That's how our marriage started and years from now, it's where we'll be again. :)
2) No laundry, dishes, or diapers. Ahhhhhh....it was just one night, but it felt like we had so much time!
3) An evening bike ride.
4) The sunset.
5) An elegant room. Yes, there was a jacuzzi! It felt like the lap of luxury.
6) The most soft, "decadent" towels ever. I wrote down the brand name and one day when I'm rich (riiiiight) I'll own some of those towels. My husband was laughing at how enraptured I was with the towels.
6) Uninterrupted sleep. It's a beautiful thing. And sleeping in! UH-MAZE-ING.
7) Being served breakfast after sleeping in. I love to cook breakfast, but it's so nice to have it all done for you sometimes. And it was yummy. Thanks to Patricia, our innkeeper!
8) Sitting close together on the porch swing and reading.
9) My husband. Isn't he cute? He's the most wonderful, sweet, tender, thoughtful, amazing man I know and marrying him was the best thing I ever did (I'm soooooo thankful for God's grace!). He's my best friend.
10) Three years of marriage! Four moves, one loooooong deployment, and one squishy baby later, and we are learning and growing up together. Thank You, Jesus and I love you, my sweet Andrew. :)
