Pancake Breakfast: A Saturday Morning Tradition

For as long as I can remember, my godparents have been hosting a pancake breakfast at their house every Saturday morning. Anyone and everyone is invited.

Eat pancakes, drink (really good) coffee, sit on the couches and talk. Kids play on the floor. Someone pulls out the huge chess game.

People come in and out and some stay until late afternoon.

But that's back in our hometown. Our new town is minus a pancake breakfast.

Until tomorrow.

That's right...tomorrow we are hosting our very first, very own Saturday Morning Pancake Breakfast! We've invited the neighbors. I've passed out fliers. It will be Banana Pancakes with homemade pancake syrup, fresh coffee, and orange juice all around.

Maybe everyone will come (eeeek! You know how small my house is). Maybe no one will come. The worst case scenario is that my freezer will be stuffed with a month's worth of pancakes.

Who knows....but I'm excited!

  2. Whatna wonderful idea!! We love hosting but have never thought to do something like this! I'll have to pass the idea along to hubby and see if we can't do something like it soon.

  5. I think this is absolutely marvelous! Seriously, you missed something in your current life that was warm and wonderful and decided to start an old tradition in a new location. I hope your home is full of happiness ... and pancakes... tomorrow morning. I believe that God will use your hospitality in a mighty way.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm glad to have come here and will visit awhile. I already see some topics that have me interested...

  8. Awe - wish I could come. :) I grew up eating homemade pancakes most mornings - especially Saturday mornings (once we were all in school). My daughter now loves the same recipe and variations. Such a great idea and tradition.

  9. I LOVE that idea. In fact, I am toying with this idea myself. It's too late for tomorrow, but maybe the following week.... At our house I think instead of pancakes, it would be more along the lines of breakfast tacos.

  12. Hope all goes well! I know I've been sort of MIA, but I spent a night catching up with you. It's been super-busy around here, but I finally managed to blog twice this week after a couple weeks of inactivity. Loved the pictures of squishy at 7 months!
